Let's Do This...

Hello hello I am Melissa and I have embarked on a journey of downsizing, minimizing and organizing. Recent events, plus the fact I am a minimalist at heart, have lead me where I am today. I have lived in a big house, but what I have learned is for 1. the more space you have the more stuff you seem to accumulate 2. well this could be due to "oh every room have to be decorated, blah blah..." and since we have more room what do we forget to do??? THROW STUFF AWAY, or as I like to call it purge. For me it has always been more than just getting rid of stuff, but I have always mentally felt better. 3. the more you have to clean, dust bunnies have no idea no one ever comes into room blah blah so they continue to multiply. This leads to more housework and less fun time. (not the way I want to live, you know what I mean, just keeping up and not ever really enjoying what I have worked for.
For now I am living a dream, no literally. I have always wondered what it would be like to live in a hotel, well thanks to my wonderful husband, we now are. (He has taken a temp position and housing is included). This has also allowed us to get accustom to a smaller space and see what would realistically would work for us. We have decided that a smaller place is better for alot of reasons. 1. you tend to pick up as you go more often that not (personally I don't like to look at clutter, that doesn't mean you can't hide it, I just don't want to see it LOL!!) 2. less to take care of. I know what you are thinking "the hotel has maid service" I know I thought the samething...but who wants to be interrupted at random times in the morning for maid service, plus for me, it is kinda weird having daily maid service, plus I have a small vacuum and I get things cleaned in no time, because there is less to clean!! I know!!
I am re-learning to "use what I have" kinda mind set. As you can see in the pics, we have a small microwave, small sink, small fridge and what many would consider "not enough cabinet space." I thought the samething but I was wrong. I have cooked more nights than not, with just my little microwave and it has been healthy and fabulous. I have even been able to create some no bake desserts. Here is a look at ourkitchen and living area.
